Mental Health Mondays!

Submitted by: M.B

Hello all! Welcome to another segment of #WWHHW! : "Mental Health Mondays"

I felt that it was imperative to not only give our artists and business owners a safe space to display their craft, but mental health advocates and professionals should do the same!

Who knows!?

You may find your next favorite book, podcast, or counselor in your area!

This week we have:

Mayisha Clairborne, M.D. : Master HypnosisTherapist, Founder of Mind ReMapping Academy, and Host of "The Black Mind Garden"

Dr. Maiysha Clairborne is an integrative family physician, Master Practitioner of NLP & Hypnosis, and founder of the Mind Re-Mapping Academy: School of NLP, Hypnosis, & Time Line Therapy®. A healer at heart with over 20 years experience, she is passionate about transforming the lives the people she coaches and trains by teaching them how to communicate more effectively and how to eliminate the fear, self-doubt, negative thoughts & feelings that get in the way of their clarity, communication, focus, & productivity so that they have more confidence in themselves, attract more of what they want, and take their careers & relationships to the next level so they can live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

As a speaker, trainer, and coach, Dr. Clairborne loves empowering her students & clients in business, entrepreneurship and the power of the unconscious mind.

(Her TedxTalk event is now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/iOboT5uRhXU)

Dr. Maiysha in the Black Mind Garden Monday’s & Wednesday’s for “fly on the wall” conversations about the unconscious patterns that influence our thoughts, emotions, & actions; how we shift the narrative and create better versions of ourselves & new legacies for our kids. Featuring doctors, psychologists, mental health professionals, life coaches & entrepreneurs, these conversations are meant to transform your mind, and uplift our community.

“When I started this NLP training school, my vision was to teach people the skills to transform their lives, but now I see it’s much bigger than that. I see the trainings we do as an access to healing old generational wounds, building bridges, and opening doors to unite the world around us. When people get rid of their own internal blocks, fears, and negative conversation, they are often inspired to find their purpose, and pay it forward.”

We at #WWHHW would like to acknowledge the recent event of losing Stephen "Twitch" Boss.

Twitch was known as an amazing dancer, choreographer, producer, actor, musician, father, husband, and friend.

Unfortunately, Black men often suffer in silence and don’t seek the help that sometimes women will reach out to get. We’ll call our girlfriends, let them know that things are not okay. "Barbershop conversation", amongst men, stay just that: a conversation/vent session but no true work behind it. And from that, they sadly hold things in, and begin to self-medicate with work or even alcohol/substance abuse;it's not very healthy or beneficial.

We at #WWHW want to offer a new mental health resource. Along with sending in your stories to this safe space, we want to recommend:

Their mission is to provide access to mental health treatment, psycho-education, and community resources to men of color.

For those who are not ready to get counseling/mental health treatment BUT still need a SAFE space to speak your truth in the company of MEN, Check Out:

"Kings Corner is a virtual weekly meetup group for men held through Zoom. Each week there is a different topic applicable to men’s mental health issues or struggles, as well as a different qualified host specialized in the topic. We aim to offer the men both psychoeducation and therapeutic tools/resources around issues they may be struggling with. This is a safe space that promotes sharing, vulnerability, support, community, and brotherhood amongst the participants. This group is open to Men all over the country and internationally. King’s Corner has also been a great way to collaborate and partner with other professionals and organizations doing applicable and meaningful work in our communities."

"Disclaimer: Black Men Heal is NOT an emergency mental health service. We have limited and selective FREE mental health service opportunities. There is no guarantee of selection and also likely to be a waiting period to receive the free services. Therefore if you or someone you know is in need of immediate or emergency mental health care please contact 911 or google your local Mental Health Crisis Resources for appropriate contact info."

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or Text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

You can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Service Members and Veterans in crisis, as well as their family members and friends, with qualified DVA responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text services.
