Hello all! Welcome to another segment of #WWHHW! : "Mental Health Mondays"
I felt that it was imperative to not only give our artists and business owners a safe space to display their craft, but mental health advocates and professionals should do the same!
Who knows!?
You may find your next favorite book, podcast, or counselor in your area!
This week we have:
Taurean "T.J" Johnson: Resident Services & Community Resource Coordinator for Statesville Housing Authority
"This guy may look familiar but I guarantee if you ever knew the boy in the picture or the man that you think you remember; I assure you that you're mistaken. My name is TJ Johnson and I am a person in constant recovery from life and not being prepared for it early on. Experiencing this life in the last two years has changed my entire perspective. Now as a public servant, I work my mental health plan and encourage others to learn themselves and create a mental health plans if needed. I have my bachelors in Organizational Communications with a minor in law. Currently, I am working on a masters that I started years ago in journalism but have since decided to change concentration. "
The goal of this program is to improve the quality of life. As the R.O.S.S. program coordinator, he is here to connect those dots needed to a better life. Its more than helping getting their GED or enroll into courses; it is helping those residents getting what they feel they need. He is investing in the community so they can begin to invest in themselves!
His programs offer multiple community service events and mental health events. His favorite event takes place on the LAST Monday of every month. It's also called: Mental Health Mondays!
This is located at 110 W Allison St, Statesville, NC.
Throughout the day, TJ provides anyone a safe calming place to relax. There will be calming oils for guest, affirmations, and more. He has partnered with NAMI where at 5:00 pm EST, they have a guest speaker! Typically they share some aspect of mental health in hopes to increase the emotional intelligence of our community. So spread the word!
Watch the following video for more information about TJ, the Statesville Housing Authority, and the R.O.S.S. Program. More so, tune in for his mental health events that are being held monthly!
